High School

The High School training program is open to dogs 5 months and older on their first day of school. Students enrolled in High School will learn the following behaviors:

  1. Name Recognition: Dog looks to owner for direction when he hears his name. Is able to hold attention on his owner for 10 seconds with low distractions.
  2. Polite Greeting: Dog is able to remain calm in a sit or a stand position while a visitor walks up and converses with the owner while on leash. Dog does not come into visitor’s personal space or lose self-control and begin jumping. Visitor is not expected to interact with the dog.
  3. Down: Dog responds to verbal or hand signal (non verbal) cue, owner upright.
  4. Come: Dog responds to verbal cue in a low distraction environment from a distance of 10 to 15 feet.
  5. Loose Leash Walking (LLW): Dog should be able to walk across width of training room or the equivalent of 15 to 20 steps on a short, loose lead – low to moderate distractions.
  6. Wait: Dog does not try to cross threshold until owner releases the dog. Owner is not to prompt his dog to sit, but the dog may choose to sit on his own.

Graduates of the High School program would be reliable in low to moderate distraction areas.

Tuition: $200
